Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland woke up without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating wind gusts topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to seven centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

State Emergency Services received 598 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both regions.

Public health experts warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
