In the dying moments, sheer ecstasy broke out for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola in a state of despair and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's pivotal intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old for years to come.

A Stark Contrast in Experience

On the City bench stood the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with four decades of silverware for football's giants Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a former coach at lower-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and arrived to make his first-team debut after being seconded from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
